The quilt was put together with love by Mrs. Sue Tusing, a friend of
Brians and Bush family
To give you some information about Brian, he and his family were
very active in charity. Brian helped raise money for St. Judes Hospital
at a radio telethon while struggling in his own battle against a brain
tumor in January of 1989. Brian spoke to high school students that were
overwhelmed with Brian testimony of his acceptance of Jesus at nine
years old, and his six (6) year battle with brain tumors and all the
while believing God is healing him. Brian's sickness helped families
restored their religious devotions, praying together, and non-practicing
Catholics returned to their faith. St. Judes was not his first charity
work. For 10 years Brian was a clown (Peanuts) for the Knights of
Columbus #4362 performing for older people in hospitals and other
organizations with his sister Aaran and his dad, Michael. At 7 years
old, he became the youngest person in Grand Rapids to receive the
"Volunteer In Action Award" for his charity work. Also, he helped his
family win the "Family of the Year" award by the Knights of Columbus
#4362 for their deep faith and charity work.
The quilt was made in 2000 with a story about Brian's life. We had the quilt made for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital it tells the story of Brian's life and the quilt is hanging up in Memphis, TN at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
If you happen to go to St Jude just ask and they will show you where the quilt is hung up at or you can also go and type www. Stjude.org, look for Quilt of Hope; type in Bush and you will see the quilt on the Internet.
